Kate is our Oncology Support Nurse. She left a career in legal services to retrain as a nurse and completed her nurse training in the UK in 2002. She has dedicated her nursing life to caring for people with cancer. Throughout her career she has provided holistic support to patients and their families in a variety of care settings in the community or home, hospital and hospice. Kate specialised as a chemotherapy nurse at The Christie Hospital, Manchester, for the latter part of her career and aims to offer support, advice and information regarding all cancer treatments and possible side effects.

At her Cancer Support Clinic, Kate may offer practical advice and information on preventing or managing chemotherapy and radiotherapy related side effects; such as nausea, dietary information, how to care for your mouth & skin etc. She works closely with The Palliative Care Team, Nurse Specialists and other Health Professionals at St. Bernard’s Hospital. As well as the physical problems cancer or it treatments may cause, Kate aims to support you through the emotional, psychological and social impact that Cancer can have on you and your family.

Kate is currently on maternity leave. We look forward to her re-joining the team in the future
