THE ‘THUMBS UP’ CAMPAIGN
The Lady Williams Cancer Support Centre Appeal!
The Gibraltar Society for Cancer Relief is pleased to announce that the Centre in Devil’s Tower Road, which has accommodated all the Society’s services for over 20 years, will be moving to new premises in the next few months.
The new Centre will be housed in the former BFBS / Music Centre building in South Barracks. Thanks to the Government of Gibraltar, this beautiful colonial building is being restored to its former glory and its interior has beenre-designed in close collaboration with the Society to meet the needs of people with cancer who use of the Centre’s facilities.
The new building will house the services offered at present by the Society such as day and respite care, a purpose built area for nursing treatments, complementary therapies and Bereavement care. As in the past, the new Cancer Support Centre will also be available to other local cancer charities.

An artists impression of the building.
In 2010, over 100 people used the facilities the Society offers and it is our hope that with the new Centre our services may be expanded with the possibility that in the future, a small hospice unit may be opened for the care of people with advanced cancer.
For now though, the immediate priority is to fund the move to the new day cancer support centre. We need £60,000 to purchase items such as specialist furniture from UK, some large household appliances, nursing equipment and everything that is needed to equip the new day facility.
We are therefore launching this Appeal to the whole community! We invite businesses, government departments, clubs, associations, schools, sporting groups, young people and everyone in Gibraltar to organise fundraising events to raise money for the new Centre.
We need everyone to give the appeal the “Thumbs Up” and fundraise for this very worthy project help! For more information please contact Helen White at the present Centre on 200 42392 (Tuesdays to Thursdays) or her mobile 56000112.
